Know Me a Lil’ More!
I’m Catherine Bennett. Welcome to the house I finally stopped staging for other people.
I spent four decades with drawers that wouldn’t close and a hall closet nobody was allowed to open. That surprises people who expect someone born with a label maker in hand.
The turn came at forty four, emptying my mother’s house in Dayton after forty one years there. Guest towels still folded from a 1983 wedding.
A drawer of rubber bands sorted by nothing. Six cookie tins with no cookies, just buttons and a Purple Heart none of us had ever seen. She’d loved that house. She’d also buried herself in it a little.
I drove home and looked at my own kitchen differently. Not disgust. Recognition. That’s the actual start of this blog. Not a Pinterest board. A basement in Ohio.
Why Decor, Crafts, Organizing, and Cleaning Share One Address
Most sites split these into separate categories, as if choosing a paint color and clearing out a junk drawer belong to two different people. I don’t write that way, because I don’t live that way.
A home looks good because it works, and it works because someone decided where things go and then kept the surface underneath them clean. Half of what gets called a craft around here is really just organizing with glue and better lighting.
Life Graced treats a home as one long conversation between beauty and order, not two separate rooms in the house.
Eighteen Years of Other People’s Houses
After that week in Dayton, I trained as a home stager and spent eighteen years walking into other people’s houses at six in the morning, an hour before an open house, fixing what a busy family hadn’t had time to fix.
I staged something close to three hundred homes across central Ohio, enough that I stopped counting around year eleven.
Around year seven, I kept watching people fall in love with a staged living room, then ask me on the way out: how do I keep it looking like this?
So I got certified through NAPO, the National Association of Productivity and Organizing Professionals, because staging a house for a weekend and helping a family live in one for years turned out to be related skills, not the same one.
Life Graced is the answer I kept giving people in driveways, finally written down properly.

What You’ll Actually Find Here
Four things, and I try to keep each one honest rather than aspirational.

A Few True Things About Me
How I Keep This Place Honest
Every post on Life Graced gets checked before it goes up, and not just for typos.
I read each article myself before it’s published, tightening anything that’s confusing to follow and checking any claim, product recommendation, or number against its source or a fresh round of testing.
When something we tested a few years back stops holding up (a product gets reformulated, a method gets replaced by a better one) we go back and fix the post rather than leave old advice sitting there quietly being wrong.
And any time a link earns us a commission, or a brand has sent something over for review, you’ll see it marked clearly near the top of the post, not buried in a footer nobody reads.
One Last Thing
If you’ve made it this far, you know that home isn’t about perfection—it’s about how it feels to walk through the door.
Forget the curated magazine standards. Your space should work for you, not the other way around. This blog is my way of helping you create a home that actually supports the life you’re living. I’m so glad you’re here.
You’ll find me at contact@lifegraced.com. I answer these myself, most days before the coffee’s finished.
Catherine
